HUUM Sauna Heater & Controller

Each Oeco garden sauna is powered by a HUUM sauna heater. HUUM is an award winning company renowned for its innovative and elegantly designed sauna heaters, which blend modern aesthetics with traditional sauna experiences. Their stainless steel heaters are distinguished by a high stone capacity, ensuring gentle and long-lasting steam.

The size of the HUUM heater depends on the internal cubic metre area of the sauna and varies from a 4.5Kw Drop 4 (2 Person Sauna) to a 15Kw Hive 15 (12 Person Sauna).

We include the correct amount of genuine HUUM rounded stones with each heater supplied. HUUM emphasizes the use of natural, round sauna stones, such as olivine diabase, to achieve optimal thermal performance and durability.

In addition each garden sauna is supplied with a HUUM UKU internal temperature sensor and sauna controller allowing users to set heating times and temperatures. A UKU WiFi version is available as an optional extra which is compatible with the HUUM mobile app, enabling remote control of the sauna from a smartphone.

Sauna Accessories

As standard, and to enhance the sauna experience, we include:

  • Sand Clock - Measures 15-minute intervals to help monitor the recommended bathing time.
  • Thermometer - An internal sauna thermometer to ensure optimal comfort.
  • Bucket & Ladle - A high-quality bamboo and aluminium sauna bucket and ladle for an authentic sauna experience.

Western Red Cedar Internal Cladding & Bench\s

Inside our premium quality garden saunas you will find all the walls and ceiling lined with Western Red Cedar.

Western Red Cedar is considered the best choice for the interior of a sauna due to several key properties: Cedar is highly resistant to moisture, rot, and mildew, making it ideal for the humid and hot conditions inside a sauna. It doesn't warp, crack, or shrink as much as other woods when exposed to fluctuating temperatures. It has a low thermal conductivity, meaning it stays relatively cool to the touch even in high sauna temperatures. This prevents the wood from becoming too hot and uncomfortable for users.

Cedar emits a natural, calming aroma that enhances the sauna experience. The scent also has mild antibacterial and antifungal properties, which help maintain cleanliness. The wood contains natural oils that repel insects and inhibit bacterial growth, reducing maintenance needs. Cedar is a long-lasting wood that can endure years of sauna use without deteriorating. It maintains its structural integrity even with repeated heating and cooling cycles. Unlike some other woods, cedar has a naturally smooth surface with minimal splintering. This makes it ideal for benches and backrests where direct skin contact occurs.

Our saunas also include premium profiled single or twin slatted Western Red Cedar bench.

Glass Door & Panoramic Window

The external sauna door is made of clear safety glass, complete with a cedar frame, roller lock, hinges, seal, and handle, measuring 622mm × 1835mm. Each garden sauna includes a fixed double-glazed panoramic glass window panel. Bespoke panoramic or vertical glass window panels are available upon request.

Ventilation System

Sauna ventilation refers to the system of airflow management in a sauna to ensure fresh air circulation, maintain comfortable oxygen levels, and regulate temperature. Proper ventilation improves the sauna experience by preventing stale air, ensuring even heat distribution, and reducing humidity buildup.

Each individual sauna is supplied with an air intake which is located near the floor, close to the heater which brings fresh air into the sauna. In addition each sauna includes an exhaust vent. The exhaust vent is positioned higher up on the opposite side, allowing warm, stale air to exit.

Traditional Timber frame construction

All our garden saunas manufactured using traditional timber framed walls and floor. The walls are constructed using heavy duty solid 75mm structural graded timber and the floors are constructed from 100mm structural graded timber frames to carry the load of the building. The floor timbers are pressure treated and impregnated with Tanelith E wood preservative.

Fully Insulated

The structural timber walls sections contain 75mm Knauf RS45 thermal acoustic insulation. Knauf is one of the UKs market leaders in insulation and its products are the most thermally efficient and technically advanced insulation products available today. The garden sauna roofs are constructed using a highly insulated trapezoidal roof panel system.

The roof panel is sandwiched with PIR rigid thermal insulation. The highly insulated trapezoidal roof panels span the single pitch, with a fall from front to back. The outside edges of the dark grey roof panels are additionally covered with an aluminium roof edge trim and black woodgrain roof fascia boards.

Breathable Membrane & Heat Reflector

The insulated garden sauna timber walls are externally wrapped in a specialist high performance waterproof breathing membrane. This membrane acts like a one way valve and allows natural moisture to escape out of the garden shed - but prevents moisture from entering the building. Additionally all internal walls are wrapped in a specialist sauna aluminium heat reflector\ moisture barrier.

Our garden saunas additionally incorporate double vented timber walls allowing air to circulate, enabling the structure to breathe. The first vent allows air to circulate between the outer timber cladding and the breathing membrane. The second vent allows air to circulate between the breathing membrane and the insulated walls.

Black Woodgrain Composite External Cladding

Woodgrain composite cladding allow you to effortlessly achieve a wood cladding look on your exterior garden sauna walls. The woodgrain texture gives a natural wood effect. Manufactured using a combination of 60% recycled hardwood fibres and 40% recycled plastic, our woodgrain composite cladding is zero maintenance and insect and rot resistant.

Unlike traditional timber cladding, our woodgrain composite cladding does not require staining, varnishing or sanding throughout its lifespan. As standard we externally clad our garden saunas in black woodgrain composite cladding as this contrasts especially well with the Western Red Cedar integral cladding. However we can offer a range of eight different colours - Redwood, Olive Green, Ivory, Teak, Coffee, Charcoal (Black), Light Grey and Stone Grey.

Bamboo Flooring

The internal tanalised timber floor carcase is completely covered Bamboo hardwood boards. Bamboo hardwood is robust, versatile and long-lasting, with superior strength compared to many other flooring materials. Due to its quick regrowth and low maintenance, bamboo is a renewable resource and sustainable material, especially compared to other wood materials.

Constructed from lengths of bamboo wood compressed under high temperatures, this board is used in a huge range of domestic, commercial and industrial projects. In addition we install a control barrier between the Bamboo flooring and timber floor joists allowing any water and moisture to escape the sauna.

Guttering & Downpipe

Black half round PVCu guttering runs along the entire rear elevation of the garden sauna and is connected to a PVCu down pipe and outlet. The insulated roof has a 3-4 degree slop from the front to the rear - allowing rainwater to flow to the rear guttering and downpipe outlet.

Electrical

Each garden sauna includes the relevant Kw HUUM sauna heater, sauna stones, temperature sensor and controller. The sauna also comes complete with:

  • Sauna Consumer Unit 1 IP65 waterproof rated external consumer unit for sauna heater and controls.
  • Mains Consumer Unit 2 IP65 waterproof rated external consumer unit for internal\external lighting and switches.
  • Heat resistant high temperature silicone electrical cables concealed in timber frame walls.
  • Internal aluminium humidity proof light c\w cedar light cover.
  • External black aluminium up\down door lights (x2) c\w LED lightbulbs.
  • External IP65 waterproof light switch.

On completion of the garden sauna our electrician will call to your house and electrically test and certify all electrical components in the garden sauna and you will be provided with a Part P electrical certificate. Your sauna will then be ready to connect to the electrical supply in your house.

PLEASE NOTE: Our prices do not include the mains connection from the sauna\sauna heater to your house. Mains connection from the sauna\sauna heater to you house is available upon request.

The Benefits Of Using A Garden Sauna

A garden sauna is a luxurious yet practical addition to any home, offering numerous health, wellness, and lifestyle benefits. The tradition of using saunas dates back thousands of years, with cultures around the world recognizing the power of heat therapy to relax the body and mind. In recent years, home saunas—especially outdoor garden saunas—have gained popularity due to their convenience and health-promoting properties. Whether you are looking for relaxation, detoxification, improved cardiovascular health, or a way to enhance your outdoor living space, a garden sauna is a fantastic investment. Below, we explore the many benefits of using a garden sauna.

Promotes Relaxation and Stress Reduction

One of the most immediate benefits of using a garden sauna is its ability to promote deep relaxation. The heat from the sauna helps to soothe tense muscles, reduce stress, and create a calming environment where you can unwind. The warm, enveloping atmosphere encourages the release of endorphins, which are natural feel-good hormones that enhance mood and combat stress. The act of stepping into a garden sauna can be a ritual that allows you to disconnect from daily worries, recharge your mind, and find peace in the comfort of your outdoor space.

Enhances Circulation and Cardiovascular Health

Saunas have been shown to improve circulation and support cardiovascular health. The high temperatures cause blood vessels to dilate, which improves blood flow and helps oxygenate the body's tissues. Regular sauna use has been linked to lower blood pressure, improved heart function, and a reduced risk of cardiovascular diseases. In fact, studies have shown that individuals who use saunas multiple times a week tend to have a lower risk of heart disease and stroke compared to those who do not. A garden sauna provides a convenient way to enjoy these benefits without having to visit a spa or gym.

Aids in Detoxification

Sweating is one of the body's natural ways to eliminate toxins, and using a sauna enhances this process significantly. The heat from the sauna induces deep sweating, which helps to flush out toxins, heavy metals, and impurities from the skin and body. This detoxification process can lead to improved skin health, increased energy levels, and a general sense of well-being. A garden sauna provides a private and controlled environment where you can enjoy these cleansing benefits regularly.

Improves Skin Health

A sauna can work wonders for your skin. The sweating process opens up pores, removes dirt and dead skin cells, and promotes a healthy glow. The increased circulation also delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the skin, enhancing its elasticity and overall appearance. Over time, regular sauna use can help reduce acne, dryness, and other skin conditions. A garden sauna allows you to maintain a consistent skincare routine, leading to clearer, healthier skin.

Boosts the Immune System

Frequent sauna use has been associated with improved immune function. The heat exposure triggers the production of white blood cells, which are crucial for fighting off infections and illnesses. Additionally, sauna sessions mimic the effects of a mild fever, helping the body activate its natural defence mechanisms. By incorporating a garden sauna into your routine, you can support your immune system and reduce the likelihood of colds, flu, and other illnesses.

Supports Weight Loss and Metabolism

While a sauna session alone will not replace a healthy diet and exercise routine, it can aid in weight management. The heat from the sauna increases heart rate and metabolic rate, similar to the effects of moderate exercise. This boost in metabolism can contribute to calorie burning and weight loss over time. Additionally, sweating helps to reduce water retention and eliminate excess fluids, leading to temporary weight loss and a feeling of lightness.

Alleviates Muscle and Joint Pain

A garden sauna is particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from muscle soreness, joint pain, or chronic conditions such as arthritis. The heat helps to relax tight muscles, reduce inflammation, and increase blood flow to injured areas, promoting faster recovery. Athletes and fitness enthusiasts can also benefit from sauna sessions as part of their post-workout recovery routine. The soothing warmth can alleviate pain, stiffness, and fatigue, allowing for better overall physical performance.

Enhances Sleep Quality

If you struggle with sleep issues such as insomnia or restlessness, using a sauna before bedtime can promote deeper and more restful sleep. The relaxing effects of the sauna help to calm the nervous system and regulate body temperature, preparing you for a good night's rest. Many sauna users report falling asleep faster and experiencing fewer disruptions throughout the night. A garden sauna allows you to create a pre-bedtime relaxation ritual that supports better sleep hygiene.

Increases Social and Family Bonding

A garden sauna is a wonderful space for spending quality time with family and friends. Unlike traditional indoor saunas, an outdoor sauna creates an inviting setting where you can share relaxation and meaningful conversations. Whether it's a private retreat with a loved one or a social gathering with friends, a garden sauna encourages connection and togetherness. Many people find that sauna sessions provide a unique opportunity to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the company of others in a peaceful, stress-free environment.

Adds Value to Your Property

Installing a garden sauna can increase the value of your home. Homebuyers often view saunas as a desirable luxury feature, and having one in your garden can set your property apart from others. A well-designed outdoor sauna enhances the aesthetic appeal of your backyard, creating a beautiful and functional space that contributes to the overall attractiveness of your home. Whether you plan to sell in the future or simply want to enhance your property's appeal, a garden sauna is a worthwhile investment.

Provides Year-Round Enjoyment

One of the greatest advantages of a garden sauna is its usability throughout the year. Whether it's a crisp winter morning or a warm summer evening, an outdoor sauna provides a comforting retreat from the elements. In colder months, the warmth of the sauna offers a cozy escape, while in warmer seasons, it can be paired with cold water plunges for a refreshing contrast. Unlike some outdoor features that are only usable during specific seasons, a garden sauna provides year-round enjoyment and relaxation.

Enhances Mental Clarity and Focus

Sauna sessions have been linked to improved mental clarity and cognitive function. The combination of heat therapy and relaxation helps to reduce mental fatigue, enhance concentration, and boost overall brain health. Many people find that regular sauna use enhances their ability to focus, increases creativity, and promotes a sense of mindfulness. Whether you use your garden sauna as a space for meditation or simply as a time to clear your mind, it can be an excellent tool for mental rejuvenation.

Conclusion

A garden sauna is much more than just a luxury; it is a powerful tool for enhancing your physical and mental well-being. From relaxation and stress relief to improved circulation, detoxification, and social bonding, the benefits of using a garden sauna are vast. Whether you seek better sleep, relief from muscle pain, or a way to elevate your home's value, an outdoor sauna offers an array of advantages that contribute to a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. Investing in a garden sauna is not just about indulgence—it's about creating a space that supports your health, happiness, and overall quality of life.
